nature:
Terbium bromide is a light yellow crystal with a melting point of 827°C and a boiling point of 1490°C. Terbium bromide is soluble in cold or hot water. Stable under normal temperature and pressure. Can be dissolved in cold or hot water. Materials to avoid: Moisture/humidity.
production method:
From the direct reaction of elemental terbium and bromine, or from the reaction of terbium hydroxide and hydrobromic acid. After evaporation, concentration and crystallization, its hexahydrate TbBr3·6H2O can be obtained. If dehydrated by direct heating, it will be easily hydrolyzed to form bromide oxide TbOBr. It is advisable to add NH4Br to the dry HBr gas stream, and obtain anhydrous terbium bromide through heating and dehydration.
